Everything about SSC Stenographer

How selection works

Candidates are shortlisted for the skill test category-wise on the basis of normalised CBT marks. The skill test is only qualifying, so final merit is prepared from CBT marks alone among those who clear it, and departments are allotted by merit and preference through SSC's First Round Tentative Allocation (sliding) process. Ties are broken by English section marks, then General Awareness marks, then the older candidate, then alphabetical order of name. In the 2025 cycle the skill test allowed up to 5% mistakes (UR) and 7% (reserved) for Grade C, and 7% (UR) and 10% (reserved) for Grade D.
