How SSC checks the typing test

Full mistakes (count 1)

  • Every word or figure left out
  • Every wrong word or spelling mistake
  • Every extra word not in the passage
  • A repeated word (“I shall shall be…”)
  • An incomplete (half-typed) word

Half mistakes (count ½)

  • Spacing: two words joined (“Ihope”) or a word split (“h ave”)
  • Wrong capital or small letter
  • Punctuation left out, added or changed
  • Two words swapped (“hope I”)

Error % = (full mistakes + half mistakes ÷ 2) ÷ words in the passage × 100. Type exactly as given – numbers, capitals and punctuation included – with one space after a punctuation mark.
