How to prepare (60-day plan in short)

  1. Weeks 1–3: touch-typing lessons – no looking at the keys.
  2. Weeks 4–6: 10-minute tests daily; drill your weak keys.
  3. Weeks 7–8: one real exam passage a day in the exam screen; type every wrong word five times.
  4. Last weeks: switch on exam-hall noise and practise on a desktop keyboard like the exam centre's.

10 minutes, English 30 WPM (Hindi 25 WPM). Backspace and editing are not allowed, and you may type the passage again from the start. You must type at least 300 words. Words typed = key depressions ÷ 5; mistakes = full + half ÷ 2; 5% of the words typed are ignored; net speed = (words typed − final mistakes × 10) ÷ 10.

What is the BSF HCM / DSSSB JA typing test?

The passage is given on paper and you type it on the computer for 10 minutes: 35 WPM in English (30 WPM in Hindi). Net speed = (words typed − mistakes after the 5% allowance × 10) ÷ 10. In BSF / CAPF HCM Backspace is not allowed and every error (spelling, punctuation, omission, extra or repeated word) is a full mistake; DSSSB allows Backspace.
